Here it is: video of us jamming with Mumford and Sons backstage at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. Mumford and Sons saw our band playing a set at Publik Draft House the afternoon of their June 12, 2011 Atlanta show and they invited us to play at the Fox Theater that night. They even gave us a shout out from the stage. The night ended with our band jamming after the show with the members of Mumford & Sons, The Low Anthem and Matthew and the Atlas. Great times.
Follow our blog at sevenhandlecircus.com, there’s more video to come. Leave a comment, like it and share it on Facebook, and let us know what you think.
By now you have heard about the crazy time we had at the Mumford and Sons show. (Thanks to Mumford & Sons for an Amazing Night). One of the best moments came halfway through the show. 7HC had split up and were watching the show from various parts of the theater when Marcus Mumford began telling the story of meeting the band. We all completely lost it. Richard, Colin, Matt, and Jeff were watching from the balcony and nearly broke their necks running down to the front of the Fox. (Only Jeff sustained minor injuries.) Since the show we’ve all wished we had video of that moment.
On Thursday, a girl named Smita commented on our Facebook page letting us know she was our first fan in India. We asked her how she even found out about us. It turns out her friend had taken video of Mumford and Sons telling the crowd about our band and posted it on youtube.
Here’s the clip:
Note that Country Winston gets our name right but Marcus Mumford says sevenHANDEDcircus.com. We had to run to the back of the theater and quickly register sevenhandedcircus.com to redirect to our web site before heading backstage.
So a big thanks to Smita and her friend. You made our day and it’s a pleasure to have you as fans. We hope to see you on our Bluegrass Takes India tour we have pencilled in our calendars for early-2013.
Here’s one more backstage photo:
When we woke up yesterday, we knew we would be playing an acoustic set at Publik Draft House next to The Fox Theater. That’s about all we knew.
We did not know that Mumford & Sons would stop by and see our set. We did not know they would take a likin’ to us and ask us to play at The Fox that night. We did not know how many “I-can’t-believe-this-is-happening” glances would be exchanged as we were escorted through the twisting back hallways of the The Fox Theater. We did not know we would get a shout out from the stage. And we did not know we would end our night jamming to the music we love with the members of Mumford & Sons, The Low Anthem and Matthew and the Atlas.
Thank you Mumford & Sons and all of you who saw us at The Fox last night. You turned our regular day into the stuff dreams are made of. Life is a wild ride; ordinary days have magic hidden within them.
But as Winston of M&S said backstage, “I’ll sleep when I’m dead.” Seven Handle Circus’ work is kicking up. Please come out and see our next shows: July 3 at the Classic City Festival in Athens, GA and Sat. July 9 at Peachtree Tavern in Atlanta. Make sure you come ready to party. Check the Events page for more details. There will be more shows added in the coming weeks.
In other good news, we’re also headed to the studio to record some new tracks for you. Make sure to Like us on Facebook, and we’ll keep you updated.
